NEWS ROUND-UP may 2010
Todays coverage of this website and related youtube videos along with the general nature of viral web success (when an interesting subject is finally understood and relayed to friends) has thrust this earth battalion and new earth army mythology into the global limelight. Scan the fidgit map below and even enlarge the map to see how we are reaching a million people a month with our ideas. The Movie Men who stare at goats DVD including the featurette with our team has 37 positive meme's about how we can see war differently in the future and how military forces with their great variety of competence and loyal service can take on other vital recovery missions for our troubling Earth environment. This is how positive stories really are the main thrust of our hope for a better future. Nothing else compares.
The Army has presently offered a technical fix to the oil leeks coming to the carribean shores. It changes oil into usable asphalt. The military has all taken oil reduction goals to curtail their large use of fossil fuel.
Listen carefully when you can to the intelligence and mature descriptions given by General Stanley Mc Chrystal as he explains how counter insurgency works in a country disallusioned by thirty years of war.
What you won't hear is the grand strategy behind his thinking. That is beyond his authority to reveal.
My take on this is ..... to add some perspective to the use of counter-insurgency forces. It boggles my mind how nearsighted the press is when it comes to strategic force applications. Right or mostly right is the idea that we or a globally interested friendly force cannot allow the unification of any power block combination in central asia because that force with oil behind them could easily create an unstoppable land mass force that could consume the largest land base in the world. Similarly the country that has naval access to both oceans can control the planet by controlling the shipping lanes.
When we used counter-insurgency in Southeast Asia most people thought we left defeated. But if you look at our new allies the Vietnamese and the Chinese plus all the south east asian tigers ... well you just have to rethink the victory that was really achieved. The overt statement was to contain communism. The result was to create capitalism and convert the enemy to market based partners.
Vietnam veterans take a bow ... your work was not in vain.
THE ULTIMATE ACT OF A 21 ST CENTURY ARMY IS TO CONVERT THE ATTACKING FORCE INTO A PARTNER FOR DEVELOPING THEIR BEST AND MOST SUSTAINABLE FUTURE.
From that place the need for future violence is permanently shifted. The investment is the serious goal ... not the destruction of people and infrastructure. The marginalized only come to plague you on another day. As we show the world this approach to converting troublesome nations we set the example that can finally bring us all to peace one rogue at a time. A global army of sustainable development however could be a better way to get there. The US has been carrying the burden of this stabilizing doctrine for too long. We need a New Earth Army to stabilize the global commons and eliminate the radical reactions of marginalized peoples.
footnote:
Channon lives "on an eco-homestead" and promotes a crusade dubbed "Operation Noble Steward," calling for a united global military to handle ecological problems. So in the end, the entertaining farrago of make-believe and scrambled history in "The Men Who Stare At Goats" doesn't faze Channon. He compares his collision with Hollywood to "a 'meeting engagement.' That's when two armies bump into each other and chaos errupts. The ones that are quickest on their feet win. I've been quick in this case. So far it has been an amazingly successful engagement." Spoken like an honest-to-God, flesh-and-blood Jedi warrior.
THE BALTIMORE SUN
"Jim Channon is alive and well in Hawaii, and he answered all my questions," Bridges said. "He's very gung-ho, and he's really dedicated to changing the human direction. A lot of the stuff is far-fetched and easy to laugh at but in my own personal view, it's headed in the right direction. We have to find some way besides killing each other.
JEFF BRIDGES LA TIMES
Often referred as the fastest magic marker in the west, Jim Channon is an out of the box strategic visionary and high-speed graphic illustrator. His visions for the militaries of the world is far-reaching. It includes the idea that they in concert to address the environmental stresses on the planet in a program he calls Operation Noble Steward. “We had a Marshall plan after world war II to rebuild Europe and Japan, and today we need something along these lines to recover te earth’s biosphere, he says.
COAST TO COAST RADIO
Channon advocates that instead of assaulting the enemy, US soldiers should carry lambs into battle and wear "sparkly eyes" while speakers transmit "indigenous music and words of peace". In his theories, the average grunt can be transformed into a Zen monk so that killing would become obsolete. (recently top generals took sheep to the families of Afghan people accidentally killed in a skirmish)
